About Kalashreemukham
Kalashreemukham is envisioned as a respectful and refined space that introduces audiences to the beauty of Odissi, honours its roots in Odisha, and shares its continuing relevance through performance, learning, and documentation.
The origin of Odissi
Odissi originates in Odisha and is widely regarded as one of India’s oldest classical dance traditions. Its visual language reflects the sculptural grace seen in temple architecture, while its movement vocabulary carries ritual memory, poetic interpretation, rhythm, and emotional expression.
Distinctive features such as Tribhanga, with its flowing three-bend posture, and Chouka, with its grounded and balanced geometry, make Odissi instantly recognizable. Beyond form, however, the dance embodies humility, bhakti, concentration, discipline, and a deep relationship between body and spirit.

Odissi developed over centuries through devotional practice, literary tradition, and regional artistic knowledge.
It is known for lyrical torso movement, expressive eyes and hands, sculptural line, and emotive storytelling.
Odissi teaches discipline, sensitivity, cultural respect, and artistic focus while preserving intangible heritage.
